The constitutive meeting of Oulun liikenne Oy (later Oulun Autokuljetus Oy) was held on 15 June 1946, and the company started operations on 26 June 1946. From the very beginning, the company has been organised as a limited company, which has enabled flexible business development according to changes of the operating environment.
The company’s first office was a former balance room rented from the city of Oulu. These premises situated next to the bus station were very cold and draughty, and the company had to hire someone to warm up the place during days off in the winter, just in order to be able to open the door on Monday morning.
Speedy relocation and demolition
The next office of the company was situated by the market place, in premises owned by the Trustivapaa Bensiini Oy service station. These premises were not exactly state-of-the-art either, but the office, nevertheless, stayed there for twenty years.
The decision to build the company’s own premises was made on 25 March 1972, and the facility at the Korjaamotie 4 address was completed in August of the same year. The relocation took place literally at the last minute – the former office building’s demolition was already in progress, and the other end of the building was torn down by the time the last boxes made it out the door.
